Rules
Last updated 16 October 2026
Dinner is Ruined! is meant to be silly fun with friends and strangers. These rules keep it that way. They apply to everyone, with or without an account.
Play nicely
- Be decent. No hate, harassment or threats, aimed at anyone, for any reason.
- Keep names clean. No offensive, hateful or sexual names, and don’t pretend to be someone else (another player, or the game’s staff).
- Play the game. Don’t spoil rounds on purpose: helping the other side, standing around doing nothing round after round, or following someone about just to wreck their game.
- No cheating. No scripts, bots or modified versions of the game, and no using a bug to win. If you find one, tell us (see below) and we’ll fix it.
- One of you per game. Don’t join the same game twice to be on both sides.
Accounts
Anyone can play as a guest. Accounts are for people who are 13 or older; if you’re younger, ask a parent or guardian first. Keep your password to yourself: you’re responsible for what your account does. You can delete your account whenever you like, from Account on the home screen.
If someone breaks the rules
Report them: the ⚑ next to a player in the lobby, or Report a player in the game’s menu or at the end of a round. Our moderators read every report. They don’t tell the player who reported them.
Depending on how serious it is, and whether it keeps happening, a moderator may:
- rename an account with an offensive name,
- ban an account for a day, a week or a month,
- or ban it for good.
A banned account can’t sign in, and is told why and until when. If you think we got it wrong, email hello@dinnerisruined.app and we’ll take another look.
The small print
The game is free and provided as it is: we do our best to keep it running and fair, but rounds can end early (when we update the game, say) and things can go wrong. We may change these rules; if we do, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. How we look after your details is in the privacy policy.
