How to play Dinner is Ruined!
Cats try to run up the damage bill. Humans try to get dinner cooked first. Whichever happens first ends the round, which takes a few minutes.
Playing as a cat
Knock things off shelves, steal food from the counter, shred the sofa and sit on the stove to stop the cooking. Each break adds to the bill.
- Move: WASD or arrow keys, and the mouse to look
- Swat: E
- Jump: Space
- Zoomies: Shift
- Eat: F
- Cute eyes: Q
- Scratch: C
- Make a mess: Z or X
Playing as a human
Stay at the stove to cook. Twice a round, the cooking stops until someone chops the next ingredient at the chopping board. Chores earn stars, which buy tools for dealing with the cats.
- Move: WASD or arrow keys, and the mouse to look
- Spray: click
- Sprint: Shift
- Cook or clean up: F
- Chop: C, at the board
- Shut a door: G, for a star
- Tools: 1 to 7 for the carrier, cucumber, foil, laser, treat, tape and squeaky toy
On a phone
You get an on-screen joystick and buttons, and the buttons change to show what you can do where you are standing.
Tips
- Cats: split up. A human can only chase one of you, and the stove is rarely safe for long.
- Humans: chop the next ingredient ahead of time, so the cooking never stops at a bad moment.
- Both sides: the first rounds are easier, and you can swap sides afterwards to see how the other half lives.
